NBC’s beloved American workplace comedy, The Office, is reportedly getting rebooted. A new version of the show will air during the 2018-2019 TV season, TV Line reported today.

Citing sources, the website said the new show would feature a combination of returning cast members and newcomers. Once again, it would take place at Dunder Mifflin’s office in Scranton, PA. Steve Carell, the glue that held the show together who starred in seven of the program’s nine seasons, will reportedly not be involved in the new instalment.

Someone else will play the new boss, according to the report, with a search for the actor to play the part reportedly now underway. In August this year, NBC boss Bob Greenblatt said he would like to see The Office (and 30 Rock) return someday, so today’s report is not entirely out of the blue.

The Office, which is a spinoff from the British show created by Ricky Gervais, ran for nine seasons from 2005-2013. As fans of the show are well aware, it ended with more of a whimper than a bang. There is no telling how a revival would turn out, but it’s exciting to think about the storylines and characters NBC might look at for the new instalment.

NBC has yet to make any formal announcements, so take all of this with a grain of salt for now. Would you be interested in an Office revival? Let us know in the comments below!
